About the fabric

Animal print on velvet behaves differently from animal print on a flat weave. The pile gives the spots soft edges and shifting depth as the light moves, so it reads as painterly rather than photographic — much closer to a vintage textile than to a printed cotton. It is the difference between a leopard chair that looks expensive and one that does not.

The magenta piping is the deliberate note. Left plain, a leopard chair reads as a safe neutral; the pink pushes it somewhere more knowing.

How to style it

This belongs in a room with confidence. It is at its best against a strong wall colour — deep green, inky blue, oxblood — with brass, dark timber, and plenty of plants. In a white room it becomes the sole focal point, which works, but the chair does more when the room meets it halfway.
