PRODUCT DETAILS
Birds among blossom is one of the oldest decorative motifs there is, running from Chinese silk painting through eighteenth-century chinoiserie wallpapers and into the English country house. This occasional armchair puts that tradition onto soft cotton — perched birds, trailing branches and open flowers, printed with enough detail to reward a close look and enough restraint to live with every day.

Materials and construction
The frame and legs are cut from solid mango wood — a dense, close-grained hardwood that takes a warm finish and resists the wobble that creeps into softwood frames after a few years of use. Mango is also a genuinely sustainable choice: the trees are harvested at the end of their fruiting life, so the timber is a by-product of orchard farming rather than a reason to clear forest.
The upholstery is a woven cotton. On a print this detailed the base cloth matters more than usual — a natural weave holds the fine linework of the branches and feather detail, where a slicker synthetic would flatten it. The pattern is placed so the design reads cleanly across the back and seat rather than being cut awkwardly at the seams.
How to style it
A chinoiserie-style print is a commitment, so treat this as the loudest thing in the room and let everything else stay quiet. Plain walls in warm white, stone or a deep inky blue all work; so does a dark green. Pair with solid-colour cushions picked from within the print itself rather than adding a second pattern.
Practical placements: a dressing room or bedroom corner, a hallway where it functions as much as a piece of art as a chair, either side of a fireplace as a matched pair, or a dining room where a single upholstered chair breaks up a run of hard seating. At 81cm wide it slots into spaces a full armchair would overwhelm.
Delivery and care
Dispatched fully assembled and boxed. Spot-clean with a damp cloth and a mild upholstery cleaner; test on a hidden section first. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which will fade any natural-fibre upholstery over time. Vacuum on a low setting with a brush attachment to keep the weave lifted.
