Three different kinds of space in one piece, which is what you actually want beside a bed — somewhere for the lamp, somewhere for books, and somewhere for everything you would rather not look at.

The light pine effect is a pale, warm wood tone rather than an orange one, closer to a light oak than the yellow pine of the 1990s.

Getting the height right

At 59.5cm the Adela is the tallest bedside piece in this range, which makes it the right choice if you have a deep divan base or a thick mattress. A standard UK bed sits between 55cm and 65cm from the floor, so this lands in the middle of that band rather than the bottom.

If your bed is on the lower side, one of the 56–57.6cm designs will sit better. Measure floor to the top of your mattress, not the bed frame, and check you have at least 60cm of clear width beside the bed for this one.

Materials and construction

How to style it

Open shelving changes how a bedside cabinet behaves. It rewards a little curation — a few books with spines you like, a small plant, a folded throw — and punishes clutter, since everything on show stays on show. If you know you will end up with a pile of charging cables and receipts, the cupboard is where those go.
